VMware: How to reset a LUN connection on ESX without outage
Posted on September 24, 2010
I encountered the problem that an ESX server was not able to connect to the Vcenter server. I removed the VPXA agent and what not, but still no success. A couple of reboots didn’t work either.
After a couple tries of connecting to the server. I was able to connect to it, but still the server was greyed out and pointed as “disconnected”. Normal storage was shown inactive and my SAN/LUN connection was.
So I checked the LUN connection to the ESX server.
You can check this by running the following command:
tail -f /var/log/vmkernel
